SIFF NEXT Overview

In 2019, Shanghai International Film Festival has launched an independent programme designed to support emerging filmmakers to prepare them with more industrial connections, practical experiences for a further step of their next feature film project. It is planned to select about 20 talents from various professional backgrounds (producers, screenwriters and directors) from the Chinese-speaking region.

Phase I will be held during Shanghai International Film Festival and will focus on two main parts "Industrial Knowledge" and "Festival Experience". In the "Industrial Knowledge" section, industry general courses were designed, and professional filmmakers were invited as mentors.

Phase II will be a "Development Workshop" in December. All SIFF NEXT talents could submit their feature film project. 6-8 projects will be selected to enter the development workshop, which will provide in-depth guidance on script writing, project development, visual design, etc. In the end, the mentors will select 2 projects to win the condition pass to next version SIFF PROJECT.
