Novelist Quan Ling bags the Most Creative Project award
The closing ceremony for Most Valuable Film Projects of CFPC and Co-FPC was held last night. Talented young directors received awards and support for their films.
The Most Creative Project award went to Quan Ling, director of "Lost In Touch." This is Quan\'s debut film. She is a novelist currently living in Beijing, and has been publishing her works on magazines like Writer, Harvest and People\'s Literature.
"Lost In Touch" tells the story of a couple living in a small town who have different personalities and have to overcome a lot of obstacles. They decided to divorce, but deep down inside they still have feelings for each other. The story aims to tell people that the most familiar is often the most unfamiliar. Quan was thrilled about winning the award.
"I totally didn’t expect this to happen," Quan said, "Thank you all and I\'ll work hard on my film."
The Most Promising Project to Invest award went to "Last Valentine\'s Day", directed by Sheng Zhimin. Sheng\'s feature film "Floating Lives" in 2006 won the Best Feature Film of Asian New Talent Award at the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival.
"Last Valentine\'s Day" is about a girl\'s adventure in Paris and meeting of her prince charming. The film is scheduled to premier on Valentine\'s Day in 2012. The Most Potential Project is selected based on the number of appointments made by the buyers.
The Young Talent Incubator award went to Yang Yubin, director of "The Same River." The winner of this award will receive a fund by SIFF together with Eastern Shanghai International Culture Film & Television Group.
Liu Hao, director of "The Poet," won the Angel Wings Award. He will receive a kick-off capital of 100,000 yuan provided by Angel Wings Entertainment.
Four more awards were given to the finalists: Soundfirm Award, Technicolor Award, Kodak Award and CineLabs Award. The winners received investment for post-production, film stocks and processing service.
This is the fourth time the Shanghai International Film Festival hosting the CFPC and Co-FPC. The 26 co-production projects for Co-FPC and 9 Chinese projects by young filmmakers for CFPC were selected by a panel of renowned screenwriters, influential critics and seasoned distributors.
