SIFF announces competition lineup and jury for the Golden Goblet Award
SIFF has announced the contenders for the Golden Goblet Award on May 20 in Beijing. All 16 films are stand-out entries from the 2327 submissions from 81 countries and regions (figures by May 4).
The titles chosen this year for the Golden Goblet Award are Kiss Me Again and La Prima Della Cosa from Italy; Ondine and Zonad from Ireland; Deep in the Clouds and Ocean Heaven from China; Detour and The Last Escape from Canada; Circuit from Spain; Partners from Japan; Time of Fear from Brazil; Pay Back from Iran; and The Rowan Watch from Russia. Among the competitors, three are co-productions: Czukor Show (Hungary-Sweden); Un-authorized (Venezuela-Columbia-Peru-Uruguay); and Wedding Fever in Campobello (Germany-Italy).
Standards are the highest in SIFF\'s history with record numbers of quality films displaying diverse styles and excellent production values. Experts and film industry veterans are speaking highly of this year\'s competition films.
All the films will be reviewed by a world-class panel led by John Woo, who has been confirmed as Chairman of the jury for SIFF\'s Golden Goblet Award. In addition, four jury members were named together with the competition films. They are Israel\'s Amos Gitai, America\'s Bill Guttentag, Japan\'s Takita Yojiro, and China\'s Wang Xiaoshuai. The names of the last two members will be released by the end of May.
The 13th SIFF will be held from June 12-20. The grand awarding ceremony will be on June 20 at Shanghai Grand Theater.
