John Woo’s speech

It is refreshing and challenging as well for my career to be invited as Jury Chairman of the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Based on my friendship to Shanghai and the love to the Chinese film industry, I want to take this opportunity to meet outstanding film talents from all over the world. It is also my pleasure to enjoy good movies, communicate with the young, experience the spirit of the Shanghai Expo, and especially learn from other judging panels.

I hope to make more good films and discover more excellent film talents, no matter which country they come from.

Shanghai International Film Festival is a bridge for the world\'s cultural communication and a good way to make friends. I am greatly honored to have the opportunity to attend these activities.
