ANTA’s BEST FILM set out on its Showtime since the National Day Holiday

The Korean comedy SCANDAL MAKERS, the best film of SIFF’s Asian New Talent Award 2009, is to set out on its theatrical release in mainland China since October 9th, 2009.

As Korea’s box office hit in 2008, the SCANDAL MAKERS was highly praised by both the jurors and moviegoers and enjoyed an average attendance rate of over 80% during the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival in June. Three of all its five public screenings were sold-out.

"The great success of the SCANDAL MAKERS in SIFF makes us fully confident for its box office performance this coming month. The Shanghai International Film Festival is very happy to provide this film a chance to understand and test China’s film market. We believe more films will get into the market through the stage of SIFF." said Kane, business director of Shanghai International Film Festival.

The SCANDAL MAKERS is another SIFF’s panorama films to be distributed in China after NIGHT BUS. With rapid development of China’s film industry and rising interest from the rest of the world, SIFF is not only a platform for films but also a place for people in this industry to know and understand the market. At the same time, SIFF keeps working on its film market by enlarging the market scale, bringing in more international buyers and setting up programs like China Film Pitch and Catch as well as Co-production Film Pitch and Catch. All methods aim at promoting the film industry from all aspects from creation, production to distribution, etc.

The SIFF Mart officer said:"The market is a must for film festivals. The industry value of SIFF gradually comes out after years of efforts on facilitating a strong market. Both the market area and trade value rocket high while some exhibitors have made a reservation for 2010."

The 13th Shanghai International Film Festival will be held June 12-20, 2010. Tens of thousands of film industry professionals are expected to attend this China’s ONLY A-category international film festival.
