Review on the 12th SIFF MART
One of the most important parts of the 12th SIFF, SIFF MART, composed of the Film Market, CFPC and Co-FPC, was held in Western Hall No.2 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center on June 17th. Business at the Film Market has been brisk for the past three days, and more than 400 deals have been signed. The trading volume hit a record high, with each exhibitor averaging six deals a piece.
The CFPC and Co-FPC, the major promoters of the Chinese film industry, were also well received. At the 403 closed conferences that took place, consensuses were reached on 34 programs. This year a CFPC project titled The Piano in A Factory of Meng Zhang (winner of last year\'s ANTA Jury Prix Award), was named the “Most Creative Project”, while Jae-Yong Kwak\'s project Goodbye Ani! was dubbed the “Most Promising Investment Project”.
Officials from SARFT and SIFF Organizing Committee attached great importance to this international Film MART. Director of the SARFT State Film Bureau, Gang Tong, CEO of the Shanghai Film Group and executive vice-chairman of the 12th SIFF Organizing Committee, also visited the exhibition halls on June 16th.
What\'s especially noteworthy is that this year\'s Film Market was closely connected with evaluation process for the Jin Jue Award. Many of the Jin Jue Award nominees are also for sale, like HungariCom\'s Chameleon, Natasha Enterprises\' Romance and Intramovies\' We Can Do That. All this helped give added credence to the Jin Jue Award and helped to further the idea that Chinese film market is growing quickly and strongly.
This year the CFPC and Co-FPC ran from June 15th to 17th. After the events\' professional training, project presentations and one-on-one meetings were completed, a shortlist of 40 projects were picked out by a group of 315 investors and buyers, and 35 deals were soon signed. The SIFF has been successful in quickly establishing itself an international platform for film investment.
The SIFF is always ready to promote the development of the Chinese film industry regarding its contents and markets. At the conference about the Co-FPC held on the 18th of June, a large number of the big names in the Chinese film industry were present with their own projects, such as Yibai Zhang, Guangli Wang, Liwen Ma, Daming Chen, Baoping Cao and Yingtian Gong, one of Beijing\'s greatest playwrights.
Another special feature of this year\'s CFPC was the cooperation between the organizing committee and Shanda Literature. The two entities came together to provide more original novels for film producers, directors and investors. Furthermore, it has endeavored to popularize the copyright operation of Chinese original novels, making easier for the integration of culture and capital to take place.
SIFF MART spared no effort to secure a more promising prospect for the ever-diversifying Chinese film industry.
