“Japanese Film Festival” Is to Be Held as Scheduled, and Nine New Films Are To Be Shown in Shanghai

“Japanese Film Festival” is a people-benefit initiative taken by Shanghai International Film Festival by virtue of its international resources accumulated over the years to meet the viewing requirements of film fans, which extends film exhibitions from the Festival to other occasions, and also a part of the “Film Festival Every Week” series of Shanghai Art Film Federation. For the “Japanese Film Festival” this year, Shanghai International Film Festival features a lot of new Japanese films with a wide range of genres, and plans to show some acclaimed films together with new films through careful selection and well planning.

During the “Japanese Film Festival”, SIFF will show 9 new Japanese films, i.e. “HOKUSAI”, “Silent Tokyo”, “Hope”, “The Brightest Roof in the Universe”, “Threads - Our Tapestry of Love”, “Any Crybabies Around?”, “Our Story”, “From Today, It’s My Turn!!: The Movie” and “A Balance”. In the list of films, there are literary films that win awards at film festivals, hot commercial films with an all-star cast that are based on hit Japanese films, and healing films with Japanese characteristics that can warm the heart of viewers. These diversified films are sufficient to meet the viewing requirements of film fans in all directions. 

From December 11, these 9 new Japanese films will be shown in two rounds at Tianshan Cinema-Hongqiao Art Center Flagship Store and The Grand Theatre in Shanghai. From December 18, “Japanese Film Festival” will show these films in Hangzhou synchronously. The official website, WeChat Official Account and Weibo of Shanghai International Film Festival will announce the screen schedule and the billing information in coming days.
