Coming Soon | Golden Goblet Award Nominee SPYCIES Welcomes Public Release on January 11

SPYCIES, the Golden Goblet Award nominee for Best Animation Film at the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), has been scheduled for public release in Mainland China on January 11. As the opening animation in the year of 2020, the film presents an exciting adventure joined by a group of funny animals.

In a modern world dwelt by different animal species, an elite "Agent Cat" and a "Hacker Mouse" become partners, and get involved in a shocking conspiracy. While investigating into the case, they are helped by other partners. The film’s visual effects team has participated in the production of animation blockbusters such as DESPICABLE ME and MINIONS. In this film, the audience can see more than 90 vivid animal characters with each hair refined to the utmost.

This June, SPYCIES, together with DILILI IN PARIS, RIDE YOUR WAVE, LOTTE AND THE LOST DRAGONS and LOUIS AND LUCA – MISSION TO THE MOON, were nominated for Golden Goblet Award – Best Animation Film at the 22nd SIFF. Among them, SPYCIES was the only domestic animation shortlisted. On June 15, the film producer YA Ning, director ZHANG Zhiyi, singer of theme song in Japanese edition YOSHIKI, producer ZUO Qinshu, together with the two leading characters Agent Cat and Hacker Mouse, participated in the red carpet event at SIFF’s opening ceremony.

So far the film has been screened in advance in thousands of sessions across China. Its joyful story and eye-catching special effects have impressed a lot of audiences and gained a good reputation among children and their parents. After watching it, many children were deeply fascinated by the intriguing animal characters in it, saying it was a "funny and warm" story. Some even said that “the courage and teamwork shown by the cat and mouse brothers are worth learning". Parents also saw it as a “meaningful and adorable” work, and were pleased to see children inspired by the film.
