Golden Goblet Awards Competition Films | ROSA: When the Life Changes, Remember to Love Yourself
On June 22, ROSA, a competition film of the Golden Goblet Awards was screened in Shanghai Film Art Center. The main creative team from Italy attended the post-screening meeting to share and talk about their impressions of Chinese films and the current development status of Italian films.
The film tells the story of how Rosa, a middle-aged Italian woman, faced with a series of misfortunes such as the loss of her beloved daughter, the divorce proposed by her husband, and her eldest daughter\'s marriage, and responded to the instant changes and achieved self-breakthrough.
From the picture to the soundtrack, the film has a unique sense of refinement. Director Katja, used to be a screenwriter, arranged many details in the film to make the characters full and rich. For example, Rosa accepted the change of hairstyle frankly, and the old couple interacted hand in hand at her daughter\'s wedding. She has unique delicacy and sensitivity from the female perspective. "When I got the screenplay, I felt the artistic conception that the story wanted to depict. The seasons change and human life changes accordingly. After autumn, the sailing boat anchored in the harbor was blown away by the wind, just like the passing of life, which should be accepted readily. In the face of death, we should cherish the people we can embrace and lean on, envisage our self-perceptions and love ourselves." Katja introduced.
From the depression and darkness at the beginning to the clarity and openness at the later stage, the arrangement of the lenses and the processing of light and shadow also serve as a good foil for emotional rendering, "The story mainly took place in Rosa\'s old apartment, where her family lived all the year round. We stepped on the spot several times before shooting and noted down some points like where and when the light was the best." Photography director, Michel Paradise said that it was with sufficient preparation that the final perfect screen effects were ensured.
Talking about the current development of Italian films, the directors said that their generation was enlightened and guided by the movie master, Fellini and Antonioni from 1960s to 1980s. Although Italian films seem to be declining now, the works such as LA GRANDE BELLEZZ and LAZZARO FELICE that have emerged in recent years all show the strength of the new generation of Italian film directors. "As long as the young generation sticks to themselves and keeps on going along the road of art, they can see more hope."
