Shanghai International Film Festival and International Film Festival & Awards Macao Start the \"Expr

The press conference of the 4th International Film Festival & Awards Macao hosted by Macao Government Tourism Office and Macao Film & Television Productions and Culture Association will be held in Shanghai today. The Film Festival Organizing Committee announced that, the renowned director Peter Chan would serve as the chairman of the jury, Carina Lau would be the star ambassador, and Chinese director Xiaoshuai Wang, Korean director Yong-hwa Kim as well as Indian director Karan Johar would be the film festival ambassadors.

At the press conference, the 4th International Film Festival & Awards Macao also signed a memorandum of cooperation with Shanghai International Film Festival and the Shanghai Film Academy, Shanghai University, in order to enhance the exchange and training of film talents between the two places, and work together to promote the film and television industry to move forward.

Since 2017, Shanghai International Film Festival has started an in-depth cooperation with the International Film Festival & Awards Macao. In the same year, the excellent film SHUTTLE LIFE that won three awards including the Best Picture, Best Cinematography and Best Actor of the Asian New Talent Award at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival was then specially screened at the International Film Festival & Awards Macao. Afterwards, the two parties reached the intention of setting up an Express mechanism: Shanghai International Film Festival would recommend films of new talents and excellent domestic films to the International Film Festival & Awards Macao; The International Film Festival & Awards Macao would promote local Macao, China films to participate in the Shanghai International Film Festival showing unit and venture project unit, creating opportunities for local young filmmakers in Macao to enter the mainland market, and also promoting the best new mainland directors to go to Macao for exchange and sharing.

This year, Macao director Tracy Hsu’s first feature film SISTER HOOD entered the showing unit of Shanghai International Film Festival. She and another young Macao director Tingting Huang would also participate in the venture training camp of Shanghai International Film Festival to interact with young film workers from Shanghai.

The "Competition Unit for Shot Films" which was first established this year at the International Film Festival & Awards Macao, will cooperate with universities in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, to finally select 10 Chinese short films to show during the film festival. And this year\'s "New Chinese Image" has added five important awards, including the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay, to give Chinese film workers more recognition hereby.
