Cristian MUNGIU (Romanian Director)

Cristian Mungiu is a Romanian Director. Before studying film, he worked as a teacher and journalist for the written press, radio and television.
His debut film, OCCIDENT/WEST, was premiered in Quinzaine des Real-isateurs in Cannes in 2002, and was an audience hit in Romania.
In 2007, his second feature, 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS, was awarded the Palme d’Or in Cannes. The film later received several awards as best film of the year from various international associations of film critics. It also won the Eu-ropean Film Academy awards for best film and best director.
He returned to Cannes in 2009 as a writer-producer-co-director with the collective episodic film TALES FROM THE GOLDEN AGE and as a writer-director in 2012 with BEYOND THE HILLS – double awarded for Best Screenplay and Best actress.
He was in the jury for Cannes film festival in 2013.
BACALAUREAT / GRADUATION is his fifth film presented in Cannes, awarded for Best Director in Cannes 2016.

Baoping CAO (Chinese Director, Screenwriter, Producer)

In 2006, Baoping Cao’s directorial work TROUBLE MAKERS was awarded Asian New Talent Award’s Special Jury Prize at the 9th Shanghai International Film Festival, and it was also in the main competition of the 30th Montreal International Film Festival. In 2008, Cao was the winner of the 56th San Sebastian International Film Festival Best New Director Award for THE EQUATION OF LOVE AND DEATH. EINSTEIN AND EINSTEIN was awarded the 64th Berlin Film Festival Generation Special Jury Prize in 2014.
Cao and the leading actor for THE DEAD END won, respectively, the 18th Shanghai International Film Festival Best Director and Best Actor Awards in 2015. In 2016, Cao’s film COCK AND BULL was nominated for the 19th Shanghai Interna-tional Film Festival Golden Goblet Award, and won Best Actor.

LI Qiang (Chinese Screenwriter)

Li Qiang, with his in-depth perception of human nature, sensitive, tender and poetic writing style as well as his precise depiction of ordinary people\'s struggles to keep their dignity and their alienation by society, have earned him one of China\'s most styl-ish and creative screen writers of our time.

His screenplays have received numerous national and international film awards includ-ing 3 times Taiwan Golden Horse Awards Best Screenplay, twice Hong Kong Film Awards Best Screenplay, 3 time nominations for Best Screenplay at China Hundred Flower Film Awards. The films he has written won Silver Bear at Berlin International and received awards at Taiwan Golden Horse Awards, Hong Kong Film Awards, China Hundred Flowers Awards and Golden Rooster Awards and many more.

Some of his best works are: KONG QUE, LI CHUN, THE POST MODERN LIFE OF MY AUNT, SO YOUNG, THE GOLDEN ERA.

Milcho MANCHEVSKI (USA/Macedonian Director)

Manchevski’s 1994 film BEFORE THE RAIN won an Academy-Award nomina-tion and thirty awards, including Golden Lion for Best Film in Venice, Independent Spirit, FIPRESCI, UNESCO, best film of the year in Argentina, Italy, Sweden, Tur-key, and other awards in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, etc. The New York Times included BEFORE THE RAIN on its list of the best 1,000 films ever made.
DUST was the opening-night film of the Venice Film Festival in 2001. Both SHADOWS and MOTHERS were the Macedonian Academy Awards entries. MOTHERS screened in the Panorama section of Berlinale 2011, was selected among the 40 European films of the year by the EFA committee and won 7 festival awards. Manchevski won awards for best experimental film (for 1.73), best MTV video (for Tennessee, which The Rolling Stone placed on the list of the 100 best videos ever).

SABU (Japanese Director)

Began penning his own screenplays from 1995, and made his directorial de-but in the following year with D.A.N.G.A.N. RUNNER (aka NON-STOP), which was selected in Panorama of Berlin Film Festival. His second film POSTMAN BLUES“Postman Blues” was acclaimed at Sundance and many other film festivals, and also received a New Blood Award at Cognac Police Film Festival. With his third film, UNLUCKY MONKEY and fourth film MONDAY, he achieved a feat of hav-ing his work selected by Forum of Berlin, and also won a FIPRESCI Prize for the lat-ter. 
Subsequently directed DRIVE, which won the Best Asian Film at Fant-Asia Film Festival in Canada, THE BLESSING BELL, winner of NETPAC Award at Fo-rum of Berlin. DEAD RUN was selected in Panorama of Berlin, KANIKOSEN, which was selected in Forum of Berlin, and BUNNY DROP, which made a commer-cial success in Japan, expanding his range with each new film while simultaneously achieving considerable critical recognition. 
His recent two films, CHASUKE’S JOURNEY and MR. LONG were invit-ed to the competition of Berlin Film Festival. 

Gary Michael WALTERS (American Producer)

Walters is the Chief Executive Officer of Bold Films and oversees all aspects of the company including production, development, distribution and finance.
Walters, who co-founded Bold Films in 2004, also serves as Executive Producer on all of Bold Films’ projects, including WHIPLASH, the Sundance 2014 Audience and Drama Jury Awards winner and NIGHTCRAWLER, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo. Both films were recognized for their cinematic achievements with nominations for the Academy Awards, Golden Globe® Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, PGA Awards, WGA Awards, and SAG Awards.
Past Bold Films projects include the critically acclaimed DRIVE starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan, for which Nicolas Wending Refn won the Best Director Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and the Golden Globe Nominated Robert F. Kennedy drama BOBBY, featuring a star-studded ensemble cast that included An-thony Hopkins, Sharon Stone, Shia LaBeouf, Demi Moore and Martin Sheen.

XU Qing (Chinese Actress)

Xu Qing made her debut as an actress in the film LIFE ON A STRING in 1990, directed by Chen Kaige. In 1991, she starred in RIPPLES ACROSS STAGNANT WATER. She played the main role in THE EMPEROR’S SHADOW in 1995, with Jiang Wen and Ge You. In 2009, she starred as Ching-ling Soong in THE FOUND-ING OF A REPUBLIC and won Hundred Flowers Award and Best Supporting Ac-tress at the Macao International Film Festival. In 2012, she starred in a Hollywood movie LOOPER and participated in the Asian tour of the drama A DREAM LIKE A DREAM by Stan Lai, starring as Gu Xianglan of her prime age. For this, she won the 10th China Tripod Award for Best Drama Actress. In 2015, she played the role of Chatterbox in MR. SIX, which won her China’s Popular Movie Hundred-Flowers Award for Best Actress and the 18th China Tripod Award for Best Film Actress.

Iikka VEHKALAHTI (Finnish Documentary Producer, Director)

Executive Producer of IV Films Ltd, Rough Cut Service and Dare To Dream Asia.
He commissioned hundreds of documentaries and has worked with world-class documentary filmmakers. He has produced festival favorites including 3 ROOMS OF MELANCHOLY, DECENT FACTORY, RECEPIES FOR DISASTER, THE STEAM OF LIFE and PUNK SYNCHROME.
He has been awarded by HotDocs with Doc Mogul award in 2016. STEPS FOR THE FUTURE has got awards as a project from IDFA and from European Broadcast-ing Union. He has been in the jury at several festivals among them IDFA, HotDocs, It´s All True, Flahertiana and lecturing, leading the workshops or having master classes around the world.

Kazuhiro SODA (Japanese Documentary Producer, Director)

Japanese documentary filmmaker based in New York. He is well-known for his observational style and method of documentary film-making. He has directed and re-leased seven documentary films. CAMPAIGN was invited to many prestigious festi-vals such as Berlinale and won the Peabody Award. MENTAL won the Best Docu-mentary Award at the Busan International Film Festival and the Dubai International Film Festival. PEACE, the opening film of DMZ Documentary Festival, won the Best Documentary Award at the Hong Kong International Film Festival. CAMPAIGN 2 (2013) has been invited to Cinema du Reel, Hong Kong International Film Festival, and MoMA Documentary Fortnight. His latest work OYSTER FACTORY premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival. It also won the Audience Award at the Ki-notayo Film Festival.

DU Haibin (Chinese Documentary Director)

Du studied cinematography at Beijing Film Academy. His most well-known work ALONG THE RAILWAY received Special Mention at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival. STONE MOUNTAIN that deals with the workers’ life in the quarry far from China was selected for the 2005 Busan International Film Festi-val’s. UMBRELLA won awards at Cinéma du Réel and CPH:DOX.
A story about the survivors of the Sichuan earthquake, 1428 won the best docu-mentary in the Orizzonti section of the 2009 Venice International Film Festival.
A YOUNG PATRIOT got Jury Prize at HongKong International Film Festival and another 5 nominations at international film festival such as Yamagata and Shef-field documentary festival.

Tony BANCROFT (American Animation Director)

Tony was accepted into the exclusive, Disney-sponsored art college, California Institute of the Arts (Cal-Arts) in 1987. During his 12-year career with Disney Studi-os, Tony helped to create and animate Pumbaa, the lovable warthog in THE LION KING; Kronk, the dim-witted sidekick in THE EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE; Cog-sworth the clock from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST; and Iago the pestering parrot in ALADDIN.
Tony’s most notable accomplishments include being the co-director of Walt Dis-ney’s feature film, MULAN, for which he received the Annie Award for Director of the Year from ASIFA-International; and animation director of Sony’s STUART LIT-TLE 2, for which he received the Visual Effects Society’s top award for character an-imation

Junji KOBAYASHI (Japanese Animation Director)

Junji Kobayashi is a Japanese animation director born in Tokyo in 1948，and the favorite pupil of Osamu Tezuka, the famous animation master. In 1966, he worked as an animation producer and director for Osamu Tezuka’s Mushi Productions.
In 1969, Kobayashi participated in the production of the animated film of Tezuka Studio, A THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS. In 1978, he participated in the founda-tion of Tezuka Production Animation Department.
In 1984, Kobayashi served as the painter of Osamu Tezuka’s experimental short film JUMPING. In the same year, he won a top award at The Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films.
Apart from being an animation director, Kobayashi wrote Osamu Tezuka’s work Animal Tsurezuregusa in 2009, and the animation textbook wrote by him, Animal Lo-comotion was published in 2016.

YUAN Mei (Chinese Screenwriter, Animation Producer)

Yuan Mei took up the investment and creation of animation in 2002. Her works have received more than 20 national and international awards such as Golden Dragon Award Original Animation & Comic Competition.
The serial animation film YUGO AND LALA produced by Yuan Mei has re-ceived many national and international awards such as Huabiao Film Award, Monkey Award for China, Golden Dragon Award Original Animation & Comic Competition, etc. Currently, Yuan Mei is producing the other serial animation film.
