20th SIFF Offcial Poster Released Today
The 20th Shanghai International Film Festival, which is to be held during 17-26 June 2017, has released its official poster today. Inheriting the classic red of SIFF, this year’s poster also features color blocks and lines blending reality and virtuality, as well as a golden goblet as the main image, which bears distinctive characteristics and at the same time embodys profound artistic and cultural essence.
Light and Shadow Build Up Spenldid Dreams
The Shanghai International Film Festival is currently the only non-specialized competitive international film festival recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations in China.Since its founding in 1993, SIFF has formulated the festival features of “Asia, New Talents and Chinesefilms” while upholding the principle of presenting and encouraging diversified artistic creation. It has grown up to an indispensable communication channel for Chinese film industry workers to tell Chinese stories, and also one of the important platforms for filmmakers across the world to demonstrate the power of their films.
The SIFF poster this year utilizes the waving Chinese traditional ink painting and portrays the signature image of golden goblet, to indicate the meaning of presenting internationalized film &cultural achievements home and abroad through the calligraphy containing national culture and charm. Red is the main tone of SIFF, and gives off an odor ofjoy and celebration. The gradient blue of the goblet body implies that the SIFF is continuously and vigorously innovating, and building up the depth of culture year after year through the craftsman spirit of realizing dreams with light and shadow. This year celebrates the 20th anniversary of SIFF; the golden “20” in the poster is particularly eye-catching against the red, blue and white background, as if it is warmly inviting the filmmakers and audience all over the world to participate in this splendid event.
This year, SIFF has newly set up short film competitions for Golden Goblet awards for the first time, the call for submission of which has received heated responses from filmmakers worldwide. Withinjust one month, the number of applied works has exceeded one thousand. Recently, the SIFF announced that the famous Romanian director Cristian Mungiu will be the chairman of the jury for the 20th Shanghai International Film FestivalGolden GobletAwards.For the time being, the film entry stage is closing; all preparation work is in progress.
