Promising New Film Projects Win Recognition and Incentives in Festival Awards
More awards have been added to the SIFF Project this year in collaboration with new partners.
Director Zhang Yadong and producer Shao Dongxu\'s project "Drowning" was announced as "Most Creative Project" at the Shanghai International Film and TV Festival\'s SIFF Project awards ceremony.
The story follows a man who returns to his hometown to take care of his mother, but later becomes involved in an unspoken scandal after meeting a woman. In his search for peace, he winds up finding more trouble.
The Best Talent Project award was won by "Blue Amber" from director Jacky Chow and producers Johnny Song and Juda Liu. The jury described it as having a "clear cinematic genre, unique characters," and being "mature." This newly-added category is designed to encourage young directors to develop their own style.
The Most Promising Project to Invest went to "Far-fetched Friends" submitted by director Yuan Fei and producer Liu Xuan. It was praised for its clear market position and experienced production team.
More awards have been added to the SIFF Project this year in collaboration with new partners, including five worth 150,000 yuan for teams to produce their own films.
●Linmon\'s Fresh Horizon Award went to "The Negative" by director Yang Xiao and producer Shan Zuolong.
●Rainy Day Special Award, selected by Rainy Day Pictures, was given to "The Gift from Allah" by director Ryan Ho and producer Gong Jinjin.
●Wanda Film Award was won by "The Rescue" from director Wang Daqing and producer Gao Ziqing.
●Bright East Most Creative Project Award went to "Heading Home" by director Yang Nanqian and producer Ren Jiangzhou.
●Dirty Monkey First Cuts 3 Award went to "The Manifesto" by director Niu Han and producer Mike S. Ryan.
In addition, the ACE Special Award. which offers a one-year complimentary mentoring and script consulting service from ACE, went to "My Dear Friend" by director and scriptwriter Yang Pingdao and producer Andrew Lone.
This year\'s SIFF Project jury panel is headed by award-winning director and producer Cao Baoping, who is joined by investor Marco and director, scriptwriter and producer Midi Z.
