Asian New Talent Award Nominees Discuss Their Films with the Media

  Directors and actors nominated for this year\'s Asian New Talent Awards met the media yesterday at the 2016 Shanghai International Film and TV Festival.

  Indian director Raam Pratap Reddy’s first film,"Thithi," has been nominated for awards for best film, best director and best scriptwriter.

  "I wanted to make an authentic and original film, so I chose not to work with professional (actors), but farmers," the director said.

  "The film has three generations of characters because I wanted to make a film that studies the three stages of human life," he added."I also wanted to make a light-hearted and playful film about life."

  "Pleasure, Love" is also director Huang Yao\'s film debut. He said he chose love as the theme of his first film because it\'s a universal topic.

  "Emotional subjects are something not only filmmakers but also every member of the audience experiences. It\'s part of our life," he said.

  The Asian New Talent Award is dedicated to the support of young Asian filmmakers, actors and actresses.

  Lin Zijun is nominated for the best actress award for her performance in "Lost Daughter."

  "For a new actress, getting nominated is an honor and a recognition of our work. I\'m very thankful for the opportunity to show our film to more people," she said.

  The award ceremony will be held on June 17 in the Shanghai Daning Theater in Haishang Culture Centre.
