Chen Kaige Talked about His Latest Work

  Monk Comes Down the Mountain, the latest work of mainland director Chen Kaige will have an international release on July 3.

The film starring Wang Baoqiang, Aaron Kwok and Fan Wei will be screened in 3D and IMAX 3D version to depict Chinese kung fu. Many of its actors such as Yuen Wah, Chang Chen and Wang Baoqiang have martial arts background.

The film\'s international trailer was also shown at the ongoing 18th Shanghai International Film Festival.

The film centers on the journey of a Chinese monk who explores the world and finds his destiny.

“The film is also about the age-old Taoist philosophy which influences Chinese culture for a long time,” said director Chen yesterday at a press conference. “It took us more than 7 months to shoot the film about an ordinary and unselfish person.”

Yesterday online ticketing website Gewara.com also announced its new collaboration with Wanda Films on the distribution, marketing and ticketing for a series of avant-garde Chinese films.

These films mostly helmed by new directors featuring innovative ideas, subjects and arts, including romance film Go away Mr. Tumour, comic suspense movie Detective Chin Tang and a sequel to the hilarious comedy One Hundred Thousand Bad Jokes.
