The Shanghai University International Film and Television Industry Park located in Zhabei District is a new leading ground for film talent education as well as a base for high-end postproduction.

At the press conference yesterday afternoon at the 18th Shanghai International Film Festival, deputy mayor Wu Bin of Zhabei District said that the industry park would help the development of the film and TV industry and has the advantage of location in central city area when compared with other similar parks and bases.

The park will be operated according to international industry standards, providing the best environment and resources.

“And the most important thing is that we have favorable policies to support the companies in the industry park,” Wu said.

The Shanghai University International Film and Television Industry Park will also provide support for new film projects and companies.
The industry park takes the opportunity of the Shanghai Campus of the Vancouver Film School established a year ago by Vancouver Film School in cooperation with Shanghai University. The school is an education hub for new film talent to support the growing film industry in China.

Luo Hongjie, president of Shanghai University, said that building an entire film school in a year is the result of “Shanghai speed” and every student in the academy has his or her own film stories.

James Griffin, president of the Vancouver Film School in Canada, said that the Shanghai Campus of the Vancouver Film School has become an excellent film institution in only one year, and productions are the lifeline of movie practitioners, the intensive and immersive program allows the students to create a great number of quality works.

“The support from within the industry will also act as an engine to move the school forward,” Griffin said.

At the press conference, the Shanghai Campus of the Vancouver Film School also signed cooperation agreement with Fosun Group and Kylin Films.
