1st Jackie Chan Action Movie Week Displays Patriotism in Chinese Culture

 

The 1st Jackie Chan Action Movie Week will run from June 14 to 18 during the 18th Shanghai International Film Festival. The event will include Opening Forum & Opening Film Screening, Action Movie Screening and Action Movie Week Night. Three generations of Action Movie makers from Chinese-speaking regions, the USA and South Korea such as Jackie Chan, Andrew Lau, Bruce Law, Tony Ching, Yuen Wah, Wu Jing, Renny Harlin, Brett Ratner, Kang Je-gyu and Jang Dong-gun will get together to celebrate the festival for action movie makers.

Forum Speaks for Action Movies

During SIFF 2014, the Organizing Committee announced that it would join hands with international action movie star Jackie Chan to deliver the "Jackie Chan International Action Movie Week", with the aim of speaking for action movie makers by virtue of his influence in the world action movie field, displaying patriotism and cultural pursuit reflected in action movies, and pooling superior action movie resources from around the world in support of the globalization of Chinese films and culture.

The 1st "Jackie Chan Action Movie Week" will ingeniously open with a forum instead of a grand opening ceremony. At the opening forum, domestic and overseas filmmakers such as Jackie Chan, Wu Jing, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Rob Cohen will explore the "past and future of action movies". Following the forum will be the world premiere of SPL II: A Time For Consequences. Director Cheng Pou Soi will attend the premiere with protagonists including Wu Jing, Tony Jaa, Max Zhang and Simon Yam.

Screening of Fine Global Action Movies

This year, films entering the "Jackie Chan Action Movie Week" are from countries and regions such as China, Hong Kong, the USA, Canada, India, Thailand and South Korea. 25 films will be screened in six cinemas: Premiere International Cinema Shanghai Global Harbor, China Film Cinema Chamtime Plaza, New Star Cinemas, Movie Chamber, SFC Expo International Cinema City and Jackie Chan Cinema from June 14 to 18. These films include The Protector 2, The Raid 2, Wolf Warriors, Vengeance of an Assassin and Bloody Destiny. The audience can also watch part of these films on QQlive, and vote for their favorite action movies online and offline.

Jackie Chan Action Movie Week Night

The "Jackie Chan Action Movie Week Night" on June 18 will unveil award winners selected by the audience, commended those on screen and off, and created a speaking platform for them. That night three generations of action movie makers and stars from Chinese-speaking regions as well as countries such as the USA and South Korea, including Jackie Chan, Andrew Lau, Bruce Law, Tony Ching, Yuen Wah, Wu Jing, Renny Harlin, Brett Ratner, Kang Je-gyu, Jang Dong-gun, Li Bingbing and Fan Bingbing, will gather to celebrate the festival for action movie makers.
