The public presentation of films chosen for China Film Pitch & Catch(CFPC) was held at Shanghai Exhibition Center yesterday.

Hosted by Shanghai International Film Festival, CFPC aims to promote rising Chinese filmmakers. A total of eight projects were selected by the committee to join the festival and the jury will vote for the "Most Creative Project".

Though CFPC has a short history, there have been some successful projects from previous years, including Mr. Tree and The Piano in a Factory, both from the 2009 CFPC.

The jury president this year is Huang Jianxin, a renowned director, screenwriter and producer. Gary Kurtz, a producer of Star Wars, is the international jury member and is joined by Wei-jan Liu and Lorna Tee.

The directors and producers presented their projects and answered questions from the jury and audience.

The first project presented was Rainbow, a suspense film about a man who embarks on an 18-year quest to find his missing wife after being accused of her murder. The project is planned for completion by the end of 2013.

"It\'s a film about searching," director Chen Tao said. "The story starts in 1990, the year of the Beijing Asian Games and ends in 2008 when Beijing hosted the Olympic Games."

The Most Creative Project award and Most Promising Project to Invest will be announced at the closing ceremony on June 20.
