As a core platform for promotion of the film industry, SIFF has included China Film Pitch and Catch and Co-

production Film Pitch and Catch into the new Film Market section. The purpose of SIFF Project is to create

awareness of upcoming Chinese film talents, and at the same time, to enhance cooperation between China and

foreign countries. Two sections, CFPC and Co-FPC, will be remained to continue to play their original roles

and function. This year, 8 potential projects and 25 full projects have been selected as nominees for CFPC and

Co-FPC by more than 10 respected industry judges.

The purpose of CFPC  is to promote rising Chinese filmmakers. Shanghai International Film Festival offers

professional coaching and sets up stage afterwards for selected directors to give presentations to investors,

production companies, distributors and the media. Nine Chinese directors - Chen Tao, Deng Ke, Liang Ming, He

Wenchao, Lu Sheng, Li Yang, Li Wei, Teng YungShing  and Raymond Zhou- were deemed to outshine others in style

as well as skills. Renowned film critic Zhou Liming’s attempt to transform into a film director is very eye-

catching.

Co-FPC calls for co-production projects worldwide. It also invites investors, producers, distributors and the

capital from abroad to smooth the channels of international co-productions and to absorb industrial recourses

into Chinese market. This year’s Co-FPC promises to include compelling films. Apart from Being Human by Greek

director Paolo Barzman and Sunrise City by Korean director Sun-su Kim, Chinese directors have converged on the

project.

As well as cornerstone Chinese directors like Gao Qunshu, Wang Tong and Ma Chucheng, 2011 multi-award winner

Ma Meng has also contributed. In addition, new-generation director Lin Yuxian of the inspirational film Jump!

Ashin, and Lin Shuyu, director of Winds of September and Starry Starry Night, will present new film projects.

CFPC and Co-FPC is to run from June 17 to June 20. On June 20, the Most Creative Project and Most Promising

Project to Invest will be unveiled.
