Eleven New Chinese Films Vying for Media Award

Film stars supporting the SIFF Media Award

Voting is underway for the SIFF Media Award presented by Shanghai International Film Festival in collaboration with CCTV-6\'s movie channel.

Chosen by veteran journalists and media workers, the award focuses on China\'s newest films and recognizes vibrant new voices in Chinese cinema.

A total of 11 new Chinese films have been nominated this year from around 200 entries. Among them are the suspense thriller To Forgive, comedy romance First Time,family drama Only Walk, martial arts film Camel Caravan and kiddie film On My Way.

All of the nominees will host media screenings at Shanghai Film Art Center through to June 20.

After the screenings, media juries can vote in all 12 categories of the award, such as Best Film, Best Scriptwriter, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. The prize ceremony will be held on June 23.

Last year the award involved 284 journalists from more than 260 media casting their votes. In terms of artistic value and film market and audience appeal, many of the award-winning films also garnered wider recognition and acclaim at other international film festivals.
