Just hours before the opening ceremony of the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival, the Golden Goblet Award international jury members held a press conference to share their thoughts.

French director Jean-Jacques Annaud is president of this year\'s jury panel. He has won numerous international film accolades and five Cesar awards in France. His first full-length film, Black and White in Color in 1976, bagged the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.

Jury members include Iranian director Rakhshan Banietemad, Chinese American producer Terence Chang, American actress Heather Graham, Chinese actress Li Bingbing, Hungarian director Gyorgy Palfi, and Chinese director Zhang Yang.

Annaud said in sharing his thoughts about being the film festival\'s Jury President that sincerity is a crucial element in the judging.

"My recommendations to my friends and my family, as we have started to call each other, is to open our hearts to the movies, give them our feelings, and be sincere," Annaud said. "I hope everyone can express themselves sincerely."

He hoped that the finalists would be a reflection of this sincerity and honesty.

Li Bingbing said being a jury member was a very different role compared to her past experience at international film festivals. It would be a learning process for her in working with these excellent filmmakers.

Zhang Yang believed that it was very normal for Hollywood films to be entering the Chinese market, but films telling stories about China should receive more attention.

"I think Chinese filmmakers should produce films focusing on our own country, culture and language so that they can be recognized overseas," Zhang said.

"The film festival is a great opportunity for Chinese audiences to watch more excellent films," he added.
