As the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival is about to open, I would like to congratulate the Organizing Committee on behalf of the State Administration of Radio, Film & TV! I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported the development of the Shanghai International Film Festival and Chinese cinema.

With the implementation of China’s twelfth Five-year Plan and the release of the twelfth Five-year Strategy for cultural reform and development, the Chinese film industry, as well as its capital market, is developing at an amazing speed. The past two decades have witnessed Shanghai International Film Festival’s development into Asia’s largest film festival with the greatest influence. As China’s only A-category international film festival accredited by The International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations, SIFF builds an international platform with four main programs: Competition, SIFF Mart, SIFFORUM, and International Film Panorama.  Together they promote industry development and cooperation with the rest of the world. Held at a crucial time for the development of the Chinese Film Industry, the SIFF this year has a significant mission.

I hope that the Shanghai International Film Festival will take full advantage of the rapid development of the Chinese Film Industry, and will provide a feast for the eyes of the audience. I also hope that Chinese movies will have a further global reach, and that the communication and cooperation between the film industries in China and overseas will continue to develop. I wish the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival a complete success!

As the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival is about to begin, on behalf of the Shanghai Municipal CPC Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People\'s Government, I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all the honoured guests and journalists from around the world, and wish it a complete success!

In the past two decades, the Shanghai International Film Festival has made a significant contribution to the cooperation and communication between the film industry in China and overseas, as well as developing new film talents in China and Asia as a whole. Having become the centre of attention in the global film industry, the Shanghai International Film Festival hopes to improve China\'s cultural development and prosperity. As the rapid development of China\'s film industry continues, I am convinced that the Shanghai International Film Festival will make full use of its advantages, and will continue to expand its influence in the global film industry. I hope that a remarkable cultural brand will thus be identified, and a greater contribution will be made to the promotion of Shanghai\'s soft power, its development as an international cultural metropolis, and the development of culture in China and other parts of the world!
