SIFF SHOOTING 48H Concluded Successfully, and the Ultimate Challenger Team Was Out

On the afternoon of June 16, SIFF SHOOTING 48H of the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) announced the winner in Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. The team led by director Wang Renchao from Shanghai stood out from 8 participating teams with the work "She Has Lost" and won the title of "Extreme Challenger". Tong Ying, Deputy Director of the Shanghai International Film Festival Center, and Wu Jie, Member of the Party Working Committee and Full-time Deputy Director of the management committee of the Lin-gang Special Area, respectively awarded the team an honorary certificate and a creative development support fund.

Wang Renchao's team stands out in the 48-hour extreme test

From 10 am on June 13 to 10 am on June 15, 8 teams from all over the country carried out extreme shooting creation in Lingang within 48 hours, creating a youthful image in this area. On the morning of June 16, producer Ye Ning, screenwriter and director Yuan Yuan, and director Huo Meng, as the recommenders of this competition, conducted a comprehensive evaluation of 8 video works, and finally the "Extreme Challenger" team was born.

At the unveiling ceremony, producer Ye Ning fully affirmed the format of this challenge. He pointed out that this kind of activity that provides young filmmakers with shooting opportunities is very much needed in China. The Shanghai International Film Festival spares no effort to discover new Chinese filmmakers. The purpose of holding this event is to discover new strengths for the industry. Yuan Yuan and Huo Meng both talked about the extreme creative ability of participating directors and the ability to respond to emergencies that they discovered during the process of watching the works shot by each team. Director Yuan Yuan said: "The work of the director Wang Renchao's team has a complete idea and a high degree of completion within 48 hours, with a deep foundation and precise shooting expression."

The team of director Wang Renchao shared the creation process of the work "She Has Lost" on stage. From the initial idea to the adjustments based on the scenes and keywords obtained through random draws, he has several roles as director, screenwriter, photographer and special effect creator, and finally completed an excellent science fiction suspense short film, winning the title of "extreme challenger".

48H Challenge to discover the power of youth for Chinese films

SIFF SHOOTING 48H is the first time-limited shooting creation competition attempted by the Shanghai International Film Festival. From the start of the team recruitment, 120 teams have been registered in just 13 days, and 8 teams have been selected to participate  the 48-hour extreme shooting creation competition in Lingang. Both director Ning Yixin and director Sun Jie from Beijing encountered multiple problems during the filming process, such as the late arrival of the actors on the scene and the new challenges brought by the random drawn scenes, but they all resisted the pressure to complete the creation. They said that this kind of creation is a process of challenging the limit and also a process of self-discovery, leaving an unforgettable memory for themselves.

This SIFF SHOOTING 48H has been strongly supported by the Management Committee of Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and China Railway Construction East China Development Co., Ltd. The works and stories of the eight participating teams perfectly integrate the scenes of the Dishui Lake, Shanghai Planetarium, Donghai Bridge, and Navigation Museum in Lin-gang Special Area, showing the vitality of this land.

With the announcement of the "Extreme Challenger" team, this SIFF SHOOTING 48H came to a successful conclusion. Eight participating teams from across the country used extreme shooting works created in Lingang Special Area, showing the youthful power of young Chinese filmmakers. The director of the team of "Extreme Challenger" Wang Renchao will also enter the main venue of this Shanghai International Film Festival to participate in short video series activities, and embarked on the red carpet of the Golden Goblet Award Ceremony.
