SIFF PROJECT | Annual Focus Committee of 2021 SIFF PROJECT Released

The 24th Shanghai International Film Festival - SIFF PROJECT announced the annual focus committee for this year. Well-known director, producer, and screenwriter Chen Guofu serves as the president of the committee, and screenwriter and director Dong Runnian, and producer Wang Yibing are the committee members.

This year’s SIFF PROJECT will be held from June 12 to 15. The three members of the Annual Focus Committee will participate in the whole process. They will comment on the public presentations of “SIFF YOUNGx” and “Work in Progress Project”, and exchange ideas with the project parties of “Work in Creation Project” and “International Co-production Project”.

Established in 2007, the SIFF PROJECT has been successfully held for 14 years, witnessing the production of 82 projects. Filmmakers participating in SIFF PROJECT at previous film festivals include Bennett Walsh, Cao Baoping, Chen Zhengdao, Diao Yinan, Guan Hu, Gary Kurtz, Huang Jianxin, He Ping, He Yunming, Li Shaowei , Liu Kailuo, Li Lie, Liao Qingsong, Liu Weiran, Ma Ke, Shen Yang, Shozo Ichiyama, Sun Zhou, Shuang Xuetao, Tao Kun, Wang Jiawei, Xu Ligong, Xu Xiaoming, Xu Yuezhen, Xu Zheng, Yan Geling, Ye Rufen, Zheng Bixue, Zhao Deyin , Zhao Haicheng, Kuang Wenwei, Zhang Yibai, Zhang Jialu, etc.

Masterpieces he directed include “The Personals” (1998), which won the Best Actress Award and Best Screenplay Award at the 44th Asia Pacific Film Festival; “DOUBLE VISION” (2002), which won the 21st Hong Kong Film Award for Best Supporting Actress; “THE MESSAGE” (2009), which won the 10th Chinese Film Media Award for the Top Ten Films in the New Century, etc. He formerly served as the Asian Production Director of Columbia Pictures and the Chief Executive Producer of Huayi Brothers Media Group. Works he produced include the “DETECTIVE DEE” series, “PAINTED SKIN Ⅱ” (2012), “IF YOU ARE THE ONE” (2008) and “MOJIN - THE LOST LEGEND” (2015), etc. And he is praised by the media as “one of the most influential figures in Chinese film market in the past two decades”. Founded CKF Pictures in 2013, he is dedicated to continuously exploring “the originality of films and the possibility of the market”.

Representative works for which he serves as screenwriter include: “THE CHEF, THE ACTOR, THE SCOUNDREL” (2013), “BREAKUP BUDDIES” (2014), “MR. SIX” (2015) and “CRAZY ALIEN” (2019). At the same time, Dong Runnian is one of the directors of “CITIES IN LOVE” (2015), and the work “GONE WITH THE LIGHT” he directed was screened at the end of 2019.

President and CEO of Dirty Monkeys Studio. In 2012, he co-founded Dirty Monkeys Studio with director Ning Hao. In 2014, the film “BREAKUP BUDDIES”, for which he served as the producer, topped the box office champion of domestic films of the year, driving a new exploration of film distribution models. In 2016, he and Ning Hao launched the “Dirty Monkey 72 Transformations Film Project” and cooperated with many outstanding young directors such as Lu Yang, Wen Muye, and Shen Ao to create and explore the independent brand model of Chinese films.
