SIFF Film Panorama Incorporates 6 Cinemas in the Yangtze River Delta for the First Time
On the afternoon of May 28, the 2021 Shanghai International Film & Television Festival held a mobilization meeting. 40 cinemas in Shanghai and 6 cinemas in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui received the plate of “Designated Cinemas for the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival”. The leaders of Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Communist Party of China, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism (Shanghai Municipal Administration of Radio and Television), SMG, and Shanghai Film Group, the work team of this Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), the designated theater representatives of this SIFF, representatives of partner districts, media representatives, volunteer representatives and representatives of major service providers attended the mobilization meeting.
In late March this year, SIFF, teaming up with Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Association (SFDEA), launched the recruitment of screening cinemas, and received the registration of a total of 108 cinemas. The SIFF Organizing Committee, the film bureaus of relevant provinces and cities, and SFDEA, based on the relevant screening standards and the basic requirements of stable equipment, technical competence, mature service, rich experience, and convenient transportation, determined the list of designated screening cinemas for this year’s SIFF through a series of selections. At the mobilization meeting, SIFF presented the plate of “Designated Cinema for the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival” to 40 cinemas in Shanghai and 6 cinemas in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui.
Many cinemas selected this time are equipped with featured screening rooms or high-tech screening technologies, including IMAX, DOLBY CINEMA, CGS, CINITY, LUXE, Onyx Led to offer a comprehensively enhanced audio-visual screening effect.
To further fulfill the concept of “The City Built by the People, and the City Built for the People”, and empower the building of new urban spaces and improve the quality of urban life, this year’s SIFF will expand its screening area from the central city to the five new urban areas in Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, Fengxian and Nanhui. The newly added cinemas are all located in the city sub-center of the five new urban areas, providing convenient and high-quality movie viewing spots for surrounding citizens.
Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 27th Shanghai TV Festival (STVF) and the 24th SIFF will be held in the theme of the centennial of the founding of the Communist Party of China and create a sheer ambiance for celebrating the centenary in all rounds. Among this year’s screening cinemas, there a“new face” - Huangpu Theater, which is known as the “Palace of Homegrown Films" and “Where the National Anthem Sounds”. SIFF will tell the red stories and spread the red culture in the form of film screening at this cinema boasting special significance.
SIFF initiated and founded of the Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance in 2018, and hosted the Belt and Road Film Week in Pudong New Area. This year, the Belt and Road Film Week will hold for the first time the screening activities in the five cities of Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Hefei outside Shanghai, allowing fans in the Yangtze River Delta region to share the latest fruits of filmmakers from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative route.
Last year, under the gloom of the global outbreak of the epidemic, SIFF adhered to the philosophy of playing the driven power of innovation, improved safety measures, and created a “Shanghai Plan” for the holding of film festivals across the world. This year, STVF and the SIFF will strictly follow the relevant regulations of the country and Shanghai on epidemic prevention and control to ensure safe and orderly running of the festival, and write, continuing traditional strengths and highlights, a new and splendid chapter.
The 27th STVF will be held from June 6 to 10, 2021, and the 24th SIFF will take place from June 11 to 20, 2021.
