Directed by Colombian filmmaker Nicolás Rincón Gille, the film revolves around a young woman named Iluminada, played by Danellis Yaneth Zapata Pino, whose mysterious visions inspire her poetry. When she embarks on a taboo relationship with a boy named Juan, she attracts the attention of powerful forces controlling her neighborhood.

Skillfully weaving a lyrical narrative with authentic streetscapes, it vividly depicts her quiet yet resolute struggle to break free from worldly constraints and pursue spiritual freedom.

Director Rincón Gille espoused his ideas during the crew meeting about plot development and character creation, emphasizing that he aimed to tell a realistic story.

"We set the story in a real neighborhood in Colombia, a place plagued by violence and conflict, and used numerous authentic scenes to faithfully depict the local life and the protagonist's original circumstances," he said.

A large number of non-professional actors were also invited to perform alongside their professional counterparts, helping to shape a richly diverse ensemble of characters. Rincón Gille also said he invited a professional coach to guide them, so as to present a truly authentic slice of life.

Producer Patricia Ayala explained the integration of realistic and surrealist elements in the movie.

“As the director said, our visual language is highly authentic, capturing the true essence of neighborhood life through a documentary style,” she explained. "But within the narrative, we incorporated poetic dreams and elements of magical realism to achieve harmony and balance."

Actor Hector Obando said he was able to connect more deeply with the role of his character, the boyfriend Juan, and better understand his motivations thanks to his own personal passion for football.

Obando also noted that the circumstances of the film's protagonist, Iluminada, could be a significant inspiration for many people.

“Through her story, we can see how a young person struggles and searches for self-worth in an oppressive environment,” he said. “Her experience also reminds us to hold firm to our belief in love, friendship, and all positive forces.”
