Regulations for SIFF ING Section 2026 Mobile Filmmaking Camp
SIFF ING aims to tap the creative potential and enthusiasm of young filmmakers in the new era, providing a broader platform for young filmmakers and bringing together fresh, eclectic young creative forces from different cultural backgrounds.
Mobile Filmmaking Camp of this year’s SIFF ING (hereinafter referred to as the "Camp") will explore a new aesthetic of mobile film creation that is accessible to everyone. It is also dedicated to promoting breakthrough expressions of young filmmakers, making them the avant-garde of film that connects the present and the future.
Article 1 Event Date
SIFF ING of the 28th SIFF will take place during the festival in June 2026.
Article 2 Event Content
1. The Camp plans to recruit approximately 10 filmmakers from around the world;
2. Based on the key themes of the Camp, selected filmmakers will shoot a 1-5 minute mobile short film, and deliver the rough cut by May 5 and the final version by May 31;
3. The mobile short film works that pass the review will be screened during the SIFF ING event in June, and the filmmakers will be invited to attend the SIFF ING screening events and the award ceremony.
Article 3 Application Materials
1. Filmmakers’s biography and filmography;
2. Creative materials for mobile short film
Please develop a concept for a 1-5 minute mobile short film based on two keywords – "Love" and "Encounter" (choose either or both), and submit the following creative materials (the final film will be shot on iPhone, in either landscape or portrait orientation):
(1)One-sentence story synopsis;
(2)Shot list outline;
(3)Visual style references (3-5 images that define the film’s visual style, with sources indicated; original or mobile-shot images are encouraged).
*Interpretation of Key Words
Love – It can be "love for oneself," "love for the city," "love for people around," "passion for sports," and so on. It can also be nostalgia, loneliness, companionship, reconciliation and more. The warmth captured in the lens is Love.
Encounter – It is a singular point in the timeline, which may be a long-awaited reunion as planned, or a brief pass-by by chance. It can happen not only between people, but also a reunion with oneself.
3. Previous representative work (1 piece):
(1)Running time: Within 10 minutes (inclusive);
(2)Format: The work must be submitted in MOV or MP4 format, in either landscape or portrait orientation;
(3)Works shot on mobile phones are encouraged.
Article 4 Application Method and Date
1.Please visit the official website of SIFF at www.siff.com. Select the “Mobile Filmmaking Camp” track through the “ING SUBMISSION” module to complete the online registration. Fill in the required information to be registered;
2.The registration period is from the date of this regulation’s publication until April 8, 2026.
Article 5 Application Notes
1. The content of the submitted creative materials must be an unpublished or unreleased project on any platform;
2. Applicants must be the copyright holders or their authorized representatives of the submitted works/projects;
3. Participants must ensure that the information provided is genuine and valid;
4. All application documents and materials will not be returned and will be kept uniformly by SIFF for selection purposes only.
Article 6 Benefits for Selected Filmmakers
SIFF will engage professionals to review the applied projects and plans to select 10 filmmakers in April. The following benefits will be provided, and these benefits are only applicable to the invited individuals, namely the primary filmmakers of the registered projects (or their authorized representatives):
1. Eligibility to participate in 2026 SIFF ING related activities, including the training and exchange meeting held in April and SIFF ING events during the film festival in June;
2. Access to official funding support for shooting and equipment support;
3. Each filmmaker is entitled to accommodation at a designated hotel provided by SIFF during the SIFF ING event in June 2026;
4. SIFF will promote the filmmakers through official channels such as the official website, WeChat official account, official Weibo account, and official media partners.
Article 7 Notes for Selected Filmmakers
1. The list of 10 filmmakers is scheduled for publication on official channels such as SIFF’s official website www.siff.com. The selected filmmakers will be notified via telephone or email. During this period, registrants must ensure their contact information remains accessible. If there are any changes, registrants must inform SIFF in advance;
2. Selected filmmakers must formally sign a written confirmation letter, acknowledging acceptance of the invitation to participate in SIFF ING. They shall actively cooperate with the organizing committee’s arrangements and commit to attending all activities of the SIFF ING throughout the festival. The applicant shall not unilaterally withdraw the selected project for any reason. If the applicant requests to withdraw the project, SIFF reserves the right to decide whether to approve the request based on actual circumstances. If the withdrawal request causes any losses to the film festival, the applicant shall compensate for all economic and reputational losses arising therefrom, including but not limited to paying economic compensation, issuing a written apology to the film festival and making a public apology on public platforms;
3. SIFF reserves the right to use the video works on the shortlist for online and offline screenings and publicity, including but not limited to: multi-platform screenings, official brochures, official posters, promotional leaflets, cooperative media and other publicity and promotion channels;
4. SIFF has the right to archive the video works on the shortlist.

Article 9 Others
1. Anyone who registers for SIFF ING is deemed to have acknowledged and accepted these regulations. Applicants are obliged to ensure that the registered video works comply with laws and regulations, and will not infringe the rights of any third parties;
2. In the event of unforeseen circumstances that may impact the proceedings of the festival, appropriate flexible measures may be taken. And SIFF will promptly communicate any progress or changes to provide up-to-date information;
3. Matters not covered are subject to the official interpretation and notice of SIFF, which reserves the right of final interpretation of the articles herein.
