SIFF PROJECT | Lineup of Annual Focus Committee SIFF PROJECT Unveiled

SIFF PROJECT of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) unveiled its lineup of Annual Focus Committee today. Acclaimed director, screenwriter, and producer Wen Muye serves as the president, joined by producer-screenwriter Ying Luojia and director-screenwriter Anselm Chan as this year’s committee members.

 

 

 

SIFF PROJECT of the 27th SIFF will take place in Shanghai from June 14 to 17. The committee will participate throughout the event, offering expert critiques during the presentation sessions for the “GENRE PROJECT”, “NEW TALENT PROJECT”, and “WORK-IN PROGRESS PROJECT (WIP)”. It will also engage in one-on-one communication with filmmakers from the “PRE-PRODUCTION PROJECT” and “CO-PRODUCTION PROJECT”. Ultimately, the committee will determine the winners of SIFF PROJECT’s five official awards.

 

SIFF PROJECT Annual Focus Committee President Wen Muye

A renowned director, screenwriter, and producer, Wen Muye is celebrated for his masterful portrayal of realistic themes. He excels at weaving profound realism into genre storytelling, infusing his works with distinctive humanistic depth and reinvigorating Chinese realistic filmmaking within mainstream cinema. His acclaimed filmography includes Dying to Survive (2018), One for All (segment of My People, My Country, 2019), and Nice View (2022). His major Awards: Best Directorial Debut of Golden Rooster Awards (32nd), Best Director of Hundred Flowers Awards (36th), Outstanding Director of Huabiao Film Awards (18th), Best Director of Beijing College Student Film Festival (26th), Most Popular Director of Beijing College Student Film Festival (29th), Best Film from Mainland and Taiwan of Hong Kong Film Awards (38th), and Best Screenplay of Montreal World Film Festival (42nd).

 

SIFF PROJECT Annual Focus Committee Member Ying Luojia

Producer, Screenwriter

 

A versatile producer with exceptional creative vision and market acumen, Ying Luojia has produced notable films including Gone with the Light (2019), Glowing Dusk (2021), Johnny Keep Walking! (2023), and Good Job! (2025). Ying Luojia won Outstanding Screenwriter at the 20th Huabiao Film Awards, Best Screenplay at the 37th Hundred Flowers Awards, and Most Popular Script at the 31st Beijing College Student Film Festival for her work on Johnny Keep Walking! as producer and screenwriter, while also being nominated for Best Screenplay at the 37th Golden Rooster Awards.

 

SIFF PROJECT Annual Focus Committee Member Anselm Chan

Director, Screenwriter

 

Director and screenwriter from Hong Kong, China. His self-written and directed films include Ready or Knot (2021), Ready or Knot 2 (2023), and The Last Dance (2024). Among these, Ready or Knot 2 received two Hong Kong Film Awards nominations, while The Last Dance, set against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s funeral industry, garnered widespread acclaim globally and broke multiple records for Hong Kong Chinese-language films. For The Last Dance, he won Best Screenplay at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, along with a nomination for Best Director. Additionally, he clinched Best Director at the 61st Asia Pacific Film Festival and the Golden Lotus Award for Best Director at the 16th Macau International Movie Festival.

 

 

SIFF PROJECT was established in 2007 by SIFF. Having successfully held 17 editions to date. The program has nurtured 112 projects into production. Among these, 77 films have been showcased at domestic and international film festivals, with 56 selected for competition or screening at international competitive feature film festivals, and 74 receiving theatrical releases.

 

Over the years, SIFF PROJECT’s jury and annual focus committee lineups have included prominent film figures such as Bennett Walsh, Cao Baoping, Chen Kuo-fu, Leste Chen, Chen Zhixi, Diao Yinan, Dong Runnian, Gary Kurtz, Guan Hu, He Ping, Ivy Ho, Huang Jianxin, Abe Kwong, Ching-sung Liao, Lieh Li, Philip Lee, Liang Lin, Liu Kailuo, Liu Weiran, Lu Chuan, Ma Ke, Shen Yang, Shozo Ichiyama, Shuang Xuetao, Sun Zhou, Tao Kun, Wong Kar-wai, Wang Yibing, Wuershan, Xin Yukun, Li-Kong Hsu, Hsiao-ming Hsu, Jojo Hui, Xu Zheng, Yan Geling, Yao Chen, Ju-feng Yeh, Chia-lu Chang, Midi Z, Zhao Haicheng, and Lorna Tee.

Each section offers tailored services, including project incubation, financing, promotion, and matchmaking, specifically designed to support projects at different creative stages and with varying artistic visions.
