SIFF ING | 30 Candidate Works Announced for SIFF ING “AIGC Section”

SIFF ING of the 27th SIFF today officially announced the shortlist of 30 candidate works for its “AIGC Section”. This marks the first time SIFF has formally launched the call and competition for short films targeting the AIGC field, focusing on cutting-edge practices that integrate AI technology with cinema. The initiative encourages young filmmakers to break the boundaries of traditional filmmaking with the technological mindset and explore more possibilities in cinematic creation.

Since submissions started in March 2025 in collaboration with co-initiator “Dreamina”, the AIGC Section of the 2025 SIFF ING has become an arena for film technology enthusiasts. This year, the section has received over 2,600 submissions from creators worldwide, spanning AIGC narrative shorts, AI-generated animations, and other innovative film formats. These works transcend the framework of traditional filmmaking, demonstrating the potential of AI-assisted creation across storytelling, aesthetics, and more.

After rigorous evaluation by a jury panel of professional and seasoned filmmakers, 30 outstanding works have been selected as finalists for the AIGC Section of this year’s SIFF ING.

The jury assessed the submissions based on key criteria, including clarity of creation logic, integration of technology and artistic expression, original storytelling, and overall artistic execution. Currently, the “30 to 6” selection process is underway, and the final list of six shortlisted works for the AIGC Section will be officially announced in June ahead of the festival. The creators of the six selected works will also be invited to Shanghai to participate in SIFF ING events during the 27th SIFF.

The 2025 SIFF ING, featuring two tracks - AIGC and Vertical Short Video, will spotlight “New Technology”, “New Perspectives”, and “Young Creators”, to bring together fresh, unconventional young creators from different cultural backgrounds.
