The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival Becomes the Official Co-Creation Partner of Kering
The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) and Kering are delighted to announce that Kering becomes the Official Co-Creation Partner of the 27th edition of the festival. This marks the debut collaboration between the two on presenting the Women In Motion program in China, supporting women both in front of and behind the camera, and highlighting their talent. By combining SIFF's resources with the reach of Women in Motion, the partnership will bring forward co-created content, including thematic Talks and film screenings, promoting industry dialogue and exchange while contributing to the development of a more diverse industry ecosystem.
Kering's commitment to women is at the heart of the Group's priorities and, through Women In Motion, extends to the arts and culture, where gender inequalities persist.
In 2015, Kering established an official partnership with the Festival de Cannes to launch the Women in Motion program. Through the Women In Motion Award and the Emerging Talent Award, the program salutes the influence of inspirational figures and provides concrete support for emerging talent in cinema. Past awardees include Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Isabelle Huppert, Gong Li, Salma Hayek, Michelle Yeoh, and Donna Langley. In addition, its Talks and Podcasts provide a platform for personalities to share their views on the representation of women in their professional environment. To date, more than 100 Talks and such events have taken place worldwide.
In 2021, Kering launched the Centre Pompidou × West Bund Museum Project and the Women In Motion Mentorship Program. Women In Motion continues to expand its reach in China. With bold creativity and authentic voices, the program inspires female creators to grow and express themselves.
2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Women In Motion. Over the past decade, the program has grown far beyond Cannes, gaining global momentum. After successful additional collaborations with international film festivals such as the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival, the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival partners with Kering as the Official Co-Creation Partner to bring Women In Motion to the Chinese film industry.
As an A-category international film festival accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), SIFF, upholding the philosophy centering around "Asia, Chinese Film, New Talents" and consistently growing alongside filmmakers. SIFF has long championed women's increasing influence in the film industry by providing platforms for female creators to exchange ideas and inspiring more prolific creations.
The year of 2025 — marking the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema — Kering will co-host the Golden Goblet Forum | Kering Women In Motion Talk and present the a Special Screening Program during the 27th SIFF in June, celebrating the multifaceted creativity of women in cinema.
This collaboration between SIFF and Kering is united under the shared vision for women empowerment. By aligning their platforms, combining resources, and co-creating content, this alliance not only reinforces the two's enduring dedication to the world of culture and art but also signals a significant mutual step toward building a more inclusive future for the film industry.
