SIFF ING | Coexistence with Technology! The 27th SIFF Introduces AIGC with Greamina AI

The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), focusing on “New Technologies”, “New Perspectives”, and “Young Creators”, launched the “SIFF ING” section, which includes two main categories: AIGC and Vertical Short Video. The AIGC Unit, initiated in collaboration with Greamina AI, aims to create a new platform for young creators using AI in their work, inviting global submissions of AI short films. Interested participants can register on SIFF’s official website (www.siff.com) under “Registration Submission” – “ING Submission” by April 21.

As a leading observer in China’s film industry, SIFF consistently prioritizes the discovery and cultivation of emerging creative talents. We aim to bridge more film creators with the exploration of new technological applications. This year’s SIFF ING AIGC Unit, in collaboration with Greamina AI, will provide a fresh platform to witness the future, inviting all daring creators to participate.

We hope to find innovative tool displays and spark dialogues about art and technology, thereby exploring the essence of visual media:

What chemistry effect will occur between AI aesthetics and human artistic expression?

In a world of infinite possibilities generated by algorithms, how can human creators find footholds for their art?

How should genuine human emotions be expressed in AI-rendered visuals?

What we expect even more is for young creators to contribute their boundless creation and unique thoughts through their works within SIFF ING.

Submission Timeline

From March 20, 2025, to April 21, 2025.

How to Register

Visit www.siff.com, click on “Registration Submission” – “ING Submission” – “AIGC × Dreamina AI”. Follow the instructions on the Dreamina AI event page to register as a user, upload your work, and complete your application. Applicants must ensure that the information provided is true and valid. Creators failing to access the Dreamina AI event page may directly submit their works via email to the organizing committee at siffing-aigc@siff.com.

Submission Criteria

Filming time: From January 1, 2024, to April 21, 2025;

Running time: 1 - 20 minutes (including the opening and closing credits);

Genre: Video works that embrace various emerging AI tools as a core component of the making process; No restrictions on genre and AI tool;

Subtitle: Subtitles in both Chinese and English are required for dialogue, voice-over, and narration;

Quality: The works shall be submitted in MOV or MP4 format, in high definition (1080p HD) using H.264 encoding, and comply with the screening requirements for 2K;

Aspect ratio: Either landscape or portrait orientation.

When submitting your work, please include a statement detailing the AI technology used and its application in the video work, including but not limited to the AI tools used, generation processes, workflow screenshots, or images of the generation process.

The festival will invite professionals to evaluate the submissions. AIGC will shortlist 30 works for candidates, and ultimately select 6 outstanding creators as finalists. Selected creators will be prominently featured during the festival and invited to participate in related events, as well as the awards ceremonies and red carpet event of the 27th SIFF.
