SIFF SCREENING | A Preview of Iconic Scenes from 8 Films by 5 Master Directors in “Retrospective of German Film Masters”
With the guidance of the Shanghai Film Bureau, Shanghai International Film & TV Festivals, Co., Ltd. has specially curated “Retrospective of German Film Masters”, featuring eight films by five renowned German directors. From October 25 to 27 and November 1 to 3, these cinematic classics will be screened at Shanghai Film Art Center for film enthusiasts.
This showcase will present eight masterpieces spanning from the 1950s to the 1980s, covering a diverse array of genres including science fiction, war, family, crime, women’s stories, and romance. The lineup includes timeless classics that are well-known to families and some recently restored hidden gems from film history.
The uniquely designed main visual poster hand-draws the showcase’s “iconic scenes” from the eight films. Each set of 2-3 squares is cleverly interrelated, echoing the bold innovation and meticulous craftsmanship of the five masters, connecting the 20th-century cultural history with folklore, romantic imagination with rational reflections.
Additionally, a series of merchandise will be launched for the event, including posters of the showcase, ticket holders, refrigerator stickers, notepads, canvas bags, and T-shirts. These items will be available for pre-sale through the official applet from October 14 (Monday) at 8 PM. During the showcase, merchandise will also be sold onsite at the screening venues, so we encourage fans to come and pick their favorite items.
Details regarding the films in the showcase will be revealed soon. Ticket sales are expected to be launched across all platforms on October 18 (Friday) at 12 PM. For more information on the films, related activities, merchandise, and ticketing, please follow our upcoming updates through this official account.
