On June 10, SIFF MARKET of the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) kicked off at the Longemont Shanghai Hotel. New opportunities for “cultural and tourism fusion” at market events

High quality development of Yangtze River Delta film and TV production services

 

At the conference, the Yangtze River Delta Film and Television Shooting Base Alliance invited members of the Alliance and some provincial and municipal film and TV production service agencies to discuss the basic working principles and standard processes in coordinating film and TV production, and negotiate on the synergistic cooperation and joint development of film and TV production services that cover the Yangtze River Delta region. This event further echoed the national strategy of integrated and high-quality development in the Yangtze River Delta region, facilitated the development of integrated, one-stop and full-process film and TV production service standards and service systems across the region, and promoted the deep integration of cultural tourism and the prosperity of the film and TV industry.

 

 

After the exchange, the Yangtze River Delta Film and Television Shooting Base Alliance released the Film and TV Production Service Co-action Mechanism Initiative, that is to build “a film and TV production service system”, “a film and TV production information cloud platform” and “a film and TV location development mechanism”, in the hope of creating an integrated service and operation co-action mechanism to boost synergistic cooperation and joint development of the film and TV industry across the region.

To support the development of the film and TV industry, and at the same time attract more film crews to shoot film and TV works in their local regions, a number of countries and regions have launched preferential film policies. This promotion session has invited parties at home and abroad to introduce their local preferential policies for film and TV shooting and share their successful experiences as locations for film and TV works shot by domestic and foreign film crews.

 

Panidapa Suankaew, Chief of Film Business Promotion Section, Thai Film Office, introduced the Thai locations for film and TV shooting and shared the application process and preferential policies for film shooting in Thailand.

 

 

Catherine Lee, Head of Business Development of Iskandar Malaysia Studios, starting with the cultural and climatic characteristics of Malaysia, highlighted the local shooting bases, hardware facilities, filming policies and benefits.

 

 

Foukis Dimitrios, Head of the Public Diplomacy Office of the Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai, gave a detailed presentation on the application and incentives of the “Greek Cashback Scheme”, which welcomes investments in the Greek film and TV industry.

 

 

Liu Wensheng, host of CDTV-2, vividly introduced the film and TV bases and shooting locations in Sichuan, aside from the Chengdu Film and Television Service Center.

 

 

Zhuang Chaobing, Director of the New Era Civilization Practice Center of Jiangjin District, Chongqing, took everyone to understand the development history, shooting advantages, industrial supporting facilities and film and TV policies of Liangjiang International Movie City.

 

 

Xia Siyu, CEO of Dawa (Chongqing) Vitual Graphic Technology Co., Ltd., introduced in detail the advantages of virtual shooting technology, application scenarios, equipment support and policy support of Yongchuan Technological Studio.

 


 

The sharing of the above locations will generate development opportunities for the local cultural and tourism industries, and also help to promote the sharing of resources, the amplification of effects and the win-win results between countries.

 

Selection of Shanghai Film and TV locations

To drive the two-way empowerment between film and TV and cultural tourism

 

Shanghai has recently been chosen as the location for a number of popular TV dramas, providing rich historical and modern elements for various productions with the city’s red culture, Shanghai culture and South China culture. Shanghai TV Festival (STVF), in partnership with the Shanghai Cultural and Tourism Development Center and Shanghai Film and TV Shooting Service Institution, has launched a campaign to select the “Top 10 Film and TV Shooting Locations in Shanghai” and the “Most Promising Film and TV Shooting Locations in Shanghai” for 2023 under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism. After online voting, offline review and selection, the winners will be announced at the 28th STVF.

 

These locations, scattered all over Shanghai, showcase the warmth, coziness and poetry of the city in all aspects in appealing film and TV works. To better facilitate the integration of culture and tourism, 30 film and TV locations have set up photo-taking spots along Shanghai’s mother river, the Suzhou River in Putuo District, during SIFF, allowing people to breeze through famous film and TV locations, experience the diverse facets of the city, unlock wonderful city experience and share the beauty and surprises of life.
