International Short Film Selection｜Focus on Foreign Directors Born in the 90s

Many films selected for the screening of the International Short Film this year are directed by filmmakers born in the 1990s. Among them, there is the directorial debut of Salomé Villeneuve, Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s daughter, titled “III”, as well as the short film “LAST CALL” co-directed by “SPIDERMAN” Tom Holland and his brother Harry Holland. These films have delivered excellent results at various international film festivals. “LA HERIDA LUMINOSA” and “MA MÈRE ET MOI” were nominated for Short Film Competition and Generation 14plus of the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival, while “III” and “MY GIRLFRIEND” were nominated for Orizzonti Short Film Competition of the Venice Film Festival. From these short films, we can see the themes and forms that foreign directors born in the 1990s focus on.
