SIFF EXPLORE｜SIFF EXPLORE Announced 50 Selected Works for 2023

The lineup of 50 selected works in the SIFF EXPLORE section of the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) has been released today, including 17 feature films, 18 animation works, 10 documentary works and 5 experimental works alike.

In terms of country of origin, in addition to 40 Chinese works, there are also 10 foreign works from France, Germany, the United States, Singapore, Iran and India on the shortlist.

This year, SIFF EXPLORE has received nearly 3,900 entries from home and abroad, and after two rounds of selection by senior industry experts invited by the organizing committee, 50 of them were shortlisted among the candidates. A panel of instructors consisting of Malaysian director, screenwriter and producer Tan Chui Mui, Chinese screenwriter and director Dong Yue, Chinese animation director Chen Liaoyu, Chinese screenwriter Chen Shu and Chief Operating Editor of MIGU (Shanghai) under China Mobile Zhang Shuguang are now carrying out careful selection of 20 candidates from 50.

The panel of instructors will evaluate the 20 selected works in this year's SIFF NEXT section in light of their originality, thoughtfulness, artistry, technicality and innovation, as well as their expressive power, artistic appeal and audio-visual impact, and will nominate the candidates for the six one-of-a-kind recognitions.

This year, SIFF NEXT will take place from June 15 to 17 and feature a wide variety of activities, such as on-site promotion, instructor forum, exploration class, and screening salon. The creators of the 20 selected works will meet face-to-face with the instructors to benefit from the expertise and industry experience shared by the panel of instructors.
