Solicitation|Thirty Years of Film Art Flashed By, Are the Old Ticket Stubs Still Treasured Up By You?

Shanghai is recognized as the birthplace of Chinese cinema. The unique and inclusive cultural temperament of this city has made it set milestones one after another in the history of Chinese cinema. If the legend of film art has been relishes for chat in the streets and alleys here, then the driving force of daring to be the first in the world and visioning a better future of the film industry is engraved in the genes of this city.

As the exchange platform highly anticipated by filmmakers and the film art feast keenly expected by cinephiles, Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) is specially founded to echo the deepest genes of this city.

Five years after Wu Yigong, Xie Jin and many other directors first put forward the idea that "China should also hold an international film festival", in October 1993, the first session of SIFF was held as expected. Thirty years has passed from then on, and we’ve kept true to our original aspirations with good visions for the future ahead.

We still remember the original founding purpose: to enhance mutual understanding and friendship among film professionals from various countries and regions, and to promote the prosperity of film art in the whole world. Now, every session of SIFF will gather thousands of high-quality films from home and abroad actively signed up for competition or screening, and thus has already made the dreams of the "pioneers" come true.

We have never forgotten the wish we once made: May SIFF be the carnival of movie fans and a festival for common people. So, every time upon SIFF, Shanghai, bright and radiant with lights, becomes a paradise for movie lovers. Rushing between theaters may get your shirt sweat-drenched, but it will fulfill your heart with happiness and good memories.

Yes, nothing is impossible for a willing heart. How long have you been accompanied by SIFF along its 30-year journey? With SIFF as your companion, have you ever clung to something special for your pious love and belief for the film art?

We will plan and hold the "Film Art in Thirty Years - SIFF 30-Anniversary Exhibition", and invite everyone who loves movies to participate - we will solicit from movie fans items related to SIFF from the past 30 years that have commemorative and collection significance, such as: old ticket stubs, group photos, autograph books, movie-watching brochures, peripheral souvenirs, etc.

We believe that there is a memory of youth or a wonderful story comparable to film plots behind every item. We hope that upon submitting the item information, you could also tell us your own story relevant to the film art, and the special bond between you and SIFF.

These items will be displayed through the online official channels of SIFF, with your wonderful stories shared at the same time; we will also select representative ones from these items and exhibit them during the 25th SIFF offline.

We here invite more film fans

To retrospect the past thirty years of film art

And vision a better future for cinema

Through your own story!
