The 24th edition of Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) Market is scheduled to take place at Shanghai Exhibition Center from June 12 till June 14, 2021. Booth applications for SIFF MARKET are open online from January 1 till May 15, 2021.
The 24th SIFF MARKET is adopting a brand-new hybrid format which brings back the physical market while keeping the International Film & TV Online Market, with the goal of upgrading the platform and services by a digital empowering approach.
Over the recent years, SIFF MARKET has focused on enhancing its functionalities as a gathering place for the industry, achieving higher exhibitor numbers, better attendance, and an increasingly international reach each year. To keep pace with the rapidly-growing film industry in China, SIFF MARKET strives to build a diversified platform that accommodates different institutions across the film business.
The physical section of 24th SIFF MARKET consists of the exhibition and market events.
The exhibition anticipates the participation of production companies, financiers, shooting locations, technical services, post-production facilities, marketing agencies, distributors, film commissions, and film schools, etc., and will have two themed pavilions for film education and shooting locations in the Yangtze River Delta region, respectively. In addition, an interactive zone will be set up specifically for the latest innovations in film technology, providing an ideal venue for technical services companies to showcase their products.
Market events include new release presentations, prearranged 1-on-1 meetings, industry panels, and market screenings, offering a one-stop platform for pitching films, projects and services. The event programming caters to not only buyers and sales agents from around the world, but also IP rightsholders and service providers such as film commissions, and proactively seeks to facilitate the connection between professionals from China and the film industry worldwide.
The International Film & TV Online Market will once again run in parallel with both Shanghai TV Festival and Shanghai International Film Festival, from June 6 till June 14, 2021. When the online market was first launched in 2020 following the pandemic prevention and control requirements, 727 exhibitors from 92 different countries registered to participate, of which 378 are international companies, accounting for more than half of the total. 1627 films/projects were showcased, and 1233 meetings were held. As an efficient platform, the online market attracted over 240 thousand total visits globally.
Taking place alongside the physical section of SIFF MARKET, the 2021 International Film and TV Online Market will be providing the digital option for showcasing and finding quality content, as well as building the bridge for Chinese and international participants to efficiently connect. Online Applications for the International Film & TV Online Market are open from January 1 to May 20, 2021.
