Current Situation of Film Industrialization: Market Promotion and Consensus Brewing
Liu Zhengshan, Executive Deputy Secretary - General and Director of the Office of the National Film Think Tank of the Beijing Film Academy and researcher, pointed out at first that film industrialization is mainly manifested in four aspects at present: the first is standardization of production, the second is typification of works, the third is modernization of management, and the fourth is innovation on scale.
PricewaterhouseCoopers partner, Ma Xiaojun pointed out that the film industry has moved away from the brutal stage of explosive growth into an era of full competition. With the increasing demand for return on investment in the market and the increasing scale of single investment in film and television projects, the market has put forward higher requirements for film industrialization.
Li Zhan, Doctor of Communication and founding partner of Fanink Consulting, pointed out that from the data analysis of the audience demand side and the product supply side of the film that the fast-growing bonus period brought by the intensive coverage of theater chains in China's film industry has officially ended and the next bonus period of deep plough and intense cultivation has just begun. Under such a background, only by relying on the specialized and economized industrial system can we seize the opportunity and captivate more audiences.
Frant Gwo, director, screenwriter and producer of WANDERING EARTH, said that China's film industry was still in the initial stage of industrialization. Frant Gwo, taking his work WANDERING EARTH as an example, pointed out that "because we have done WANDERING EARTH, then we know how difficult this road is and how far the gap is."
Solution to Industrialization Path: Standard Establishment, Management Mechanism, Audience Segmentation, and Theme Opportunity
Liu Zhengshan, Executive Deputy Secretary - General and Director of the Office of the National Film Think Tank of the Beijing Film Academy and researcher, said that the most important thing for industrialization is standard, which is the very important foundation. Standardization plays a great role in promoting the development of our industry. The first is to establish broad recognition. The second is the retention of experience and technology, which is an important aspect of standards, and the third is to reduce uncertainty. The fourth is to improve the efficiency of the industry.
PricewaterhouseCoopers partner Ma Xiaojun believed that the first priority of industrialization is to break away from our original workshop system and family-based management mode, and should use modern management means to operate and finally achieve compliance management in our development stage. In the traditional western relatively mature market, the corporate responsible system of the project is an inevitable factor. This means that for an enterprise's project, we must use a project company to manage it. The advantage lies in the risk partition.
Li Zhan, Doctor of Communication and founding partner of Fanink Consulting, pointed out that in a more stable audience market, it is a very important step for our film industry to grasp the segment of the population. To grasp the segment of the population, first of all, our film supply needs to cover more audience demand in a more diversified market population. In addition to covering the existing population, we can find the market increment more easily through the audience of the segment of the population.
Frant Gwo, director, screenwriter and producer, took the exploration of WANDERING EARTH as an example to say that the road to industrialization still has a long way to go. The industry needs to reach a consensus and establish standards, which is the biggest foundation. At the same time, through more combing and summarizing, discussion and feedback, it can be continuously improved only if it is continuously used, and industrialization can go better and more steadily.
