Overview of Classic Film Restoration Program
In 2011, Shanghai International Film Festival started its collaboration with respected the world luxuryproduct brand Jaeger-LeCoultre and launched the “Film Restoration” program to repair prints ofChina’s classic movies to preserve the valuable treasures of Chinese films.

The program was financed by an auction co-hosted by Shanghai International Film Festival andJaeger-LeCoultre. Auction items included limited edition watches from Jaeger-LeCoultre andvaluable private collections from celebrities. Donors for the program included Jia Zhangke, Zhao Tao,Wang Quan’an, Zhang Yuqi, Jiang Wenli, Wu Xiubo, Xia Yu, Zhang Jingchu, Shunji Iwai, Han ChaeYoung, Barry Levinson, Jean Jacques Annaud, Matt Dillon, Susan Sarandon, Aaron Eckhart, HeatherGraham, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Fan Wenfang,Guo Tao,Gao Yixiang,Dong Xuan,An Yixuan,WangXueqi,Zhang Xinyi,Liang Jing,Dai Liren,and Xu Ruoxuan.
Classics Brought Back to the Screen
Chinese classic films including Stage Sisters, A Better Tomorrow, C’est la Vie, Spring River FlowsEast (I & II), 8,000 Miles of Cloud and Moon, Crossroads, Crow and Sparrow and Three Womenhave been restored. The restored films were shown during the festival. More than 200 audiences watched the movies wearing cheongsam, which in itself was a unique scene.
