Terence Chang, Chinese American producer


Terence Chang has been actively participating in the entertainment world in different capacities, including producer, distributor and talent manager, for over 30 years. He studied filmmaking at New York University, and returned to Hong Kong in 1978 to become production manager on two Golden Harvest films, ITCHY FINGERS (1978) and GAME OF DEATH II (1981). He had been a member of Rediffusion Television, Johnny Mak Productions and D&B Films, while launching the international careers of actors Brandon Lee and Michelle Yeoh. Chang was the production executive on contemporary classics such as THE KILLER (1989), GUNMEN (1989), SWORDSMAN (1990), A BETTER TOMORROW III: LOVE & DEATH IN SAIGON (1989), SPY GAMES (1990), and A CHINESE GHOST STORY II (1990). He successfully marketed each of these films internationally. In 1990, Chang formed Milestone Pictures with director John Woo, and together they made ONCE A THIEF (1991) and HARD-BOILED (1992). He also became the manager of Asian superstars Chow Yun-fat and world-class author and screenwriter Lillian Lee. In 1993, Chang co-produced John Woo’s American debut HARD TARGET (1993). One year later, he and Woo formed their first Hollywood company, WCG Entertainment, producing a series of big budget studio pictures including BROKEN ARROW (1996), FACE/OFF (1997), THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS (1998), THE CORRUPTOR (1999), ANNA AND THE KING (1999) and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE II (2000). Next, Chang and Woo formed Lion Rock Productions, producing WINDTALKERS (2002), BULLETPROOF MONK (2002) and PAYCHECK (2003). In 2007, Chang raised financing entirely out of Asia for the most expensive Asian movie to date. The Chinese language epics RED CLIFF (2008) and RED CLIFF II (2009) broke box office records in China, Japan and South Korea.

Heather Graham, American Actress


Heather Graham discovered her passion for acting at an early age and caught the attention of filmmakers with her breakout role in Gus Van Sant's DRUGSTORE COWBOY, for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Graham went on to score unforgettable roles in the 1997 classic BOOGIE NIGHTS, for which she received the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance, and 1999's Austin Powers: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME. Also in 1999, Graham was named ShoWest Female Star of Tomorrow. Most recently, Graham starred in CHERRY opposite James Franco which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. Graham has starred in JUDY MOODY AND THE NOT BUMMER SUMMER, 5 DAYS OF WAR, (2011) and opposite Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifinakis in THE HANGOVER (2010). She also starred with a stellar ensemble in Emilio Estevez's BOBBY, about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, which premiered at the 2006 AFI Film Festival. In 2002, she starred in KILL ME SOFTLY directed by Chen Kaige. Throughout her career, Graham has worked with some of the industry's most respected actors and directors. Lee Bingbing, Chinese Actress


Lee Bingbing graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy China. In 1999, she made her debut performance in the Venice Film Festival Special Director's Award winning the film SEVENTEEN YEARS, under director Zhang Yuan. She was awarded Best Actress for her role in the 13th Singapore International Film Festival the following year. She gave a striking performance in the 2004 New Year‘s film A WORLD WITHOUT THIEVES which was directed by Feng Xiaogang, the father of China’s New Year’s Celebration Films. The film made her one of the actresses with the highest box office worth, and also won her Best Actress in the 12th Student Film Awards. The 2005 film THE KNOT saw Lee Bingbing take on a new type of role as a volunteer female soldier, signifying a shift from her previous work. She received Most Outstanding Female Actress in Huabiao Award and Best Actress in 17th Golden Rooster Hundred Flowers Film Award. Starting with SILVER HAWK in which she featured alongside Michelle Yeoh, Lee Bingbing entered the world of international cinema. In 2008 the huge Hollywood blockbuster THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM served as Lee Bing Bing's first genuinely global debut.  Her performance caught the attention of many and prompted The Boston Globe to praise her as "Asia's Next Top Medusa". In 2009, she won the Best Actress in Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan for the film THE MESSAGE. In 2011, her film SNOW FLOWER & THE SECRET FAN was released. That Hollywood feature also starred Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman and Korean actress Gianna Jun. In October, 2011, the international production of the newest commercially successful RESIDENT EVIL FILM SERIES—RESIDENT EVIL 5 saw Lee Bingbing join the crew as one of the most popular characters of the game, Ada Wang. The film is to be released in September 2012.

Béla Tarr, Hungarian Director

 

Béla Tarr is the most innovative Hungarian filmmaker after Miklós Jancsó. He ranks 13 among The World's 40 Best Directors named by The Guardian, and is known as ‘the last master filmmaker in the 20th century’. When Béla Tarr was at the age of 16, he began his career as an amateur film-maker. In 1977, he debuted with his feature film Family Nest. He is an associate professor at the Berlin DFFB. The trilogy DAMNATION, SATANTANGO AND WERCKMEISTER HARMONIES made him a significant figure in world cinema. He also won The Jury Grand Prix for THE TURIN HORSE in 2011.

Zhang Yang, Chinese Director

 

Zhang Yang graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University with a major in Chinese Literature in 1988, and has also obtained an advanced degree in Film Making/Film Director at the Central Academy of Drama in 1992. After graduation from Central Academy of Drama, he started his career as a Film Director at Beijing Film Studio. He was known for being a young and energetic director with keen and sharp knowledge on how to perfectly present the artistic side of his works while being able to turn every piece of his work into a successful commercial film. He rose to success with his first debut SPICY LOVE SOUP. He became widely popular after winning multiple awards for one of his masterpieces SHOWER in some of the major international film festivals in both Europe and North America, including the Toronto International Film Festival, and has received very positive reviews and great recognition from film critics for his works. It was shown in theaters in 56 countries around the world. This is a major landmark for Zhang’s career life, and is deemed unprecedented for the entire movie industry in Mainland China for such a wide acceptance from different audiences. QUTTING was another major breakthrough for this young and successful Chinese Film Director. He won the Golden Kinnaree Award for Best Film at The Fourth Bangkok International Film Festival, and was among one of the major Film Directors showcasing his work at the Venice International Film Festival. QUTTING is indeed a major representation of Zhang’s creativity and superb skills in creating a perfect fusion for films that are both artistically impressive, and commercially popular. In 2005, he was awarded Best Director in San Sebastian Film Festival for the film SUNFLOWER. In 2007, he won Panoramic Unit Award in Berlin Film Festival and Taiwan Golden Horse Film Audience Choice Best Film Award for his work GETTING HOME.
